Data Visualization: Superbowl 2016

Using data from every single Super Bowl game to date, media artists Margarita Benitez and Markus Vogl have 3D printed a sculpture, transmuting yards traveled into geometric arcs. “The sculptures analyze the game play by play and visualize the distance the ball traveled regardless of type of play,” the artists explain. The flow of the game, including teams, touchdowns, and penalties are recognizably condensed into a sculptural form. If only all football games could take this format…
