After I told all my friends that I can now make GIFs, one of them sent me this interesting article from the Design and Violence Moma website. Artist Yosuke Ushigome has created a Commoditised Warfare series, a critical-design solution to the issue of world conflict. By suggesting that sworn rivals come together in competitions around sports games and technologies instead of mass warfare, Ushigome, “highlights how organized, collective acts that bring us together so closely mirror those acts of violence that tear us apart”. In response to this work, Chistoph Niemann created a series of animated GIFs which are interesting both visually and conceptually. Here’s the link if you’d like to see more!
